New Amp installed
Just installed a new amp in my 03 XLT. I get a loud pop when I first turn on the radio. I think its the amp turning on but Im not sure. Can anyone help me stop the pop. The wiring diagram I used should be posted in the forums as WIRING DIAGRAM.

A pop on power up or shutdown is usually a sign of a low quality amp or bad wiring. Does it pop and then the sound comes on, or is it just a pop with no sound after it? What brand is it? The amp should have a power on light when it is on, it may have a protection light too, if that is on you have a problem. How did you connect it to the stereo, RCA's, speaker level inputs, or speaker level to RCA adapter? Is it the stock head unit or aftermarket? What speakers are you using, stock or aftermarket? Need alot more info to be able to help.

There is no way the amp should be on before the stereo, unless it is wired wrong. The remote turn on lead (usually blue or blue and white wire on an aftermarket radio) should be used to actually turn on the amp and the 12 V power wire run directly to the battery. Some low quality amps will still thump when the stereo is turned on, even if it is wired correctly.
