Angry Broken vents

Hi there. Ive got a bit of a dilemma. I have an 84 fullsize Bronco and my vents are a little screwy. When I first got it they would work properly, meaning which that the air would blow out the vents, floor, or defrost in accordance to where I pushed the dial. Suddenly, no matter where I put the dial, the air would only come out of the vents. The other day I took the panel off to see if I could fix the switch for the rear window. I wiggled and jiggled it, but it wouldnt come out. Before I could get it off, the girlfriend called, so I hastily screwed it back in. Surprisingly, the rear window worked, and the air came out of all the vents properly. Now today, they have stopped working again. Is there anyone here that can shed some light on my situation?

your a/c switches on your dash are controlled by vaccum. if you look on your heater blower on the pass side firewall you should see 3 vaccum lines....they go to your dash. make sure there are NO leaks and that you are getting vaccum (with a vaccum gauge)
