Towing

I have 2 Excursions and I 'm thinking of towing my 2000 V10 with my 2001 turbo diesel. Is this possible? I think with 10k towing capacity I might be OK but I'm pretty sure that a car transporter would put me over the limit. Any suggestions out there?

I'm not sure what an Excursion weighs, but it's probably in the ballpark of 8000lbs. If you've got a GCVW of 20000 lbs, as long as the trailer weighs less than 4000 lbs, you'd be OK. 8000lb truck, pulling another 8000lb truck that's on a 4000lb trailer.... 8000+8000+4000=20000. You're good to go.

I think you might have a hard time finding a rental trailer, tow dolly, or tow bar for the X. You might post this in the X forum, maybe some of those guys have towed one before.

dont forget, that 20,000# gcwr is with a fifth trailer, the max trailer weight with a conventional class IV trailer hitch is 10,000#
