hey, i am starting work on my 2002 explorer V8 engine, and i was wondering what type of exhaust (dual) i should run on my truck, and also what type of performance chip i should install, i was gona go with the new diablo chip, but if anyone can help me out with it, would be appriciated, thanx
Before you do anything check out that you dont void your warranty. I have true duals flowmasters on my 96 v8 and it sounds bad. I also have a jet chip its ok but my friend has a diablo and it runs about the same. If you do buy a chip YOU WILL HAVE TO buy premium gas.:-staunI decided one day to try cheap gas ohhhh big mistake. my computer went crazy and engine was going crazy too. Ask before you do this but I would invest in the F.I.P.K. from K&N its like a cold air intake its sweet make your engine sound good and it lets it breathe. well anyway ask before you do anything you dont wanna be without a warranty
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Jan-02 AT 12:28 PM (EST)] I am using a Superchips chip in my '97. Unless one has come out in the last couple of months, they are the only ones who can bypass the speed sensor to be able to run over 108mph. I am also running the K&N FIPK, a Granetelli 80mm Mass Air meter, 24lb fuel injectors, and have had the heads, upper and lower intake stage II match ported. I believe the '02 now have the 4.6V8 right?@!? Mine is a 5.0, so I don't know about headers for it. I am running the Ceramic Motorsports headers, and 3" stainless pipes with 2 1in1out Flowmasters
I suggest doing any of this. If you don't want to get too much into the motor just yet, and basically want just bolt-ons, I would start with the K&N FIPK, and opening up the exhaust. It will make a difference riht off the bat. If you do some of the other things like I have done, they will help, but you have to do others also to make it work right.
Look into an Airaid Helix spacer for the throttle body also(forgot about that). I put it on about a week ago, and noticed a difference in the peddle.
