Having run out of options I decided to take it to be "professionally" diagnosed. First was a Ford Specialist, only Fords and everything with Fords. The moron first told me that all the changes were bad and that he should rebuild the engine to Ford specs. I told him all I wanted was diagnosis and to hook it up as a 1990 Mustang. He said it was impossible because it would "confuse" his equipment. I grabbed my keys from his hands and left as fast as possible. All he had to do is say "I don't know, but lets try it, $100 please".
Next was a Ford dealer. Friday morning appointment, no problem, it will be in and out. Friday afternoon I called and was told, they had not gotten to it, may ready Saturday sometime. Saturday morning I called and was told maybe, but at least they still had it. An hour later the mechanic called and started asking questions. I asked if he had read the writeup sheet and spec sheet I gave. "no". 2 hours later I called to ask what is going on, and was told, "oh we were just going to call you, the MAP senor is bad, will you authorized replacement, cost is $354" "no". I went to pick it up. The only defect was the MAP sensor, and parts wanted $154 for one. Autozone, $45. Diagnostic charge $102.
ON the way home a horrible sound and strong gas smell came out just as I reached my driveway. Opening the hood, I found the mechanics fuel pressure gage all over my engine and wrapped in the belt.
I replaced the MAP sensor, and my Bronco still runs just as bad as before, but now with some damage to my fuel rail. And my battery hold down is missing.
I just wish I had brought some big male friend with me. I plan on contacting Ford regional Monday.

Yeah I never take my ford to anybody, I had an axle seal go bad while it was still under warranty and no way was someone else going to touch it so I bought the $1.50 seal and did it myself at least that way I know it was done right. Anyway I'm thinking that the MAP senor was ok but they seen it bad, so it may be the wiring to it which would give them the same error so I'd start checking the wires out.

Well, I finally have my Bronco home again. I contacted the dealership management, Ford Motor Company national service, and a consumer troubleshooter the next day after rescuing my Bronco the first time. I explained what was wrong, especially wanting to charge me $200 labor to replace the MAP sensor, and that diagnostics were not done. This time the service manager and higher up manager wrote it up and still the incompetents could not do the work on the day of the appointment. It was finally finished today.
The results of the mechanic actually following the Ford troubleshooting manual: MAF sensor intermittently sends trash, the #2 injector is not working and the O2 sensor tends to stick Rich then Lean. The signal into the sensors is correct, just the sensors are sick. I would have been happier if any injector in the other bank was bad. But at least I have a something to go on.
Thank you BigRedBronc. I printed out your post and gave it to them so they would understand what diagnostics mean. I guess they needed guy talk to make them listen.

Pam, Have you checked your fuel pressure? My guess is fuel pressure regulator. I see you replaced it, but maybe you got a bad one?

The fuel pressure regulator is new, the old one had a problem of dropping pressure instead of making it rise when revving the engine. Now there is complete in spec fuel pressure.
I should add that the #2 injector failing does match what I thought was a problem in that cylinder, I was sure the engine was missing on it, but without the equipment I couldn't be sure. Checking the plug never helped because all the plugs would be clean or dirty depending on when I checked them, which is probably because of the MAF and O2 sensors acting up making it run rich and lean.
I will know a lot more tomorrow night after R&R the parts.

Pam, glad I could help. Shop's that treat women as "lesser beings" make me angry. My wife works at a Meineke Car Care Center as an emissions specialist, you should see the faces on unknowing auto shops when they try to talk "mumbo jumbo" to her. Freaks them out when a WOMAN knows more about emissions systems and computer controls than they do.
