I have an 84 ranger 2 wheel drive currently with a 2.8 v6 carb engin. I'm wondering what other engins would bolt on. Are there any that fit relativly easily in the same mounts/tranny screws etc? My engin is about to die (341 000 right now) and we have a few other F-150s (1985-90) lying around with good engins. Putting in a CPU for injection wouldn't be a problem. I'm just wondering if there are any other engins that are known to fit on there somewhat easily. I don't care if it's even a different make (Shutters at the idea but sadly no choice)
Any help or ideas would be apreciated sooooo much.

Most people don’t for some reason. Whenever I mention my motor is a 2.8, people automatically think I’m talking about an s-10. Ford 2.8 was made from 74-86, guess it just wasn’t a popular motor.
