Question about 4x4

im looking at buying a 2004 XLT 4x4 or maybe just a FX4, with the switch on ther fly, if i leave it in 4x2 mde with i achieve the mpg of 15 / 19 like the 4x2 and would it only drop to 14/18 when i use 4x4, or would it always be 14/18 in either mode?

Even though its in 4x2 mode the 4x4 still weighs more and the drivetrain is different. So your going to get 14/18 no matter what mode you are in.

hm...

what gas station do u use to fill up? i heard shell is the best for ford's from some people...

To be honest, with gas prices like they are , I fill up at SAMS or Costco. $1.74 a gallon

$1.74 a gallon...must be nice....just finally came down to $1.96 a gallon here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

around here its $1.91 to $1.98 a gallon here, just depends on where you go.

im paying about 1.70 for gas at chervon and shell. If you put it into 4wheel drive, youre gonna be getting lower gas milage then if its in 2wd. If you go for XLT or FX4, you wont be disappointed. Best peice of advice i can offer is get every option you want and if needed, order from the facotry, otherwises you'll regret it when youre spending every possible minute driving your baby truck
