Surging/cutting out
My 2000 Ranger 4.0 runs great when cold. when the engine warms up, it surges at cruising speeds, and "cuts out" on acceleration. The warmer it gets outside, the worse it is. There are no codes, no pending codes. It only has 42,000 miles, and has a new fuel filter, air filter, and have also ran numerous fuel cleaners/driers through it. I am beginning to suspect EGR problems, but there are no codes. I am about ready to take it to the dealer. Any ideas?

So far, I'd say you're on the right track. The next things I'd diagnose would be the EGR and evap emission system, in that order. Inspect the seal on the fuel cap for damage, and turn the cap 1/2 turn or so once it begins clicking to ensure a good seal (and no vac leak).

Finally got sick enough and took it in. Turns out the #5 plug wire was bad. I thought that if it was misfiring that bad, it would throw a code. My S10 would throw a code if it missed a single time. The dealer replaced the wire, and it runs good as new.
