Engine surging, missing & hesitating on 97 E350.

Engine surging, missing & hesitating on 97 E350.
Greetings fellow Econoline owners.
I just purchased a 1997 E-350 XLT from a friend of mine, and I have some questions. The car has 246k miles and 6.8 V10 engine.
1. When coming to a stoplight, the car will sometimes rock up and down, as the engine rpms change (the severity of the rocking varies).
2. Check engine light is on and it's throwing "lean bank" codes (two of them).
3. The car occasionally suddenly surges forward as I'm slowing down.
4. Under acceleration, it feels sometimes that the engine is hesitating/missing.
I just filled it up with 91 octane Chevron gas, and that didn't make any difference.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Sounds possible (by the lean bank codes) that it could be a dirty Mass Air Flow Sensor. It's located right behind the air filter in the snorkle tube for the air intake on the pickups. Not sure on the van. Every once in a while I take some electronics cleaner in a spray can and spray it off good and let it air dry for a few minutes. After that many miles it could very well be dirty, or need replacing for that fact. The cleaner is a cheap try though, after you clean it take it to autozone have have them clear the SES light.
