Automatic hub Q
Hi folks. I got a neighbor with a 93 F350 CrewCab with the Non-turbo 7.3 diesel engine in it. It's a 5speed with manual transfer case and factory automatic hubs. He's been having some problems with them, since he'll engage 4wd and the hubs will lock up, but a few moments later they will both unlock, leaving almost stranded. He's pulled them apart and found what he believes was WAY too much dirty grease inside the hubs. He's cleaned up the excess grease inside them, but wants to know if anything else needs to be done so that he doesn't get stuck again with the same problem. He's a really good mechanic but he's still kinda new to the truck, so I offered to ask some more knowledgeable guys for him.
So does anybody have answers?
