I was watching when it happened.I heard yeaterday that A-Rod and Varitek each got a 4 game suspension.A-Rod said it was too much but I think it was light.I like A-ROd but I hate to see baseball turn into a league of gangtas like the NBA.
Fighting is needed in all sports. It shows that some of the players still give everything they have to win and that the intensity level is high. Basketball is just full of little kids that get upset and chunk the ball at each other. The NBA is such a joke now.
I like to see the intensity and desire to win but suck it up and take your medicine without saying it's too harsh.Little Leauge kids don't need to think you have to be mouthy and fight to want to win.I know it's always likely to happen when really competitive people get together and I'm glad MLB made a quick decision.I still would like to have heard A-Rod say I'll take the suspension and it's over with.
If he takes the suspension, it affects his wallet. So like a whiney cry-baby,overpaid spoiled brat he'll huff and puff, and appeal of course. It's an example of celebrity "entitlement" meeting modern society's refusal to accept personal responsibility for anything.
i agree, i think that they should have let Varitek beat the livin crap out of that money hungary cry-baby A-Rod. Or maybe just let Pedro hit him in the head
Fighting seems to me like something that's just gonna happen, but it seems to have gotten ridiculous. Especially in hockey. It seems like a lot of the fights are almost for show, just to get people to watch. I love to watch the local minor league hockey team, and only rarely are there brawls, maybe once a game. There's lots of intense play, but they keep focused on playing the game, not turning it into a spectacle to increase ticket sales.
I stopped watching the "fights" a long time ago....
used to when I played "sports" - at even a high level - you could give it your all, but if you got beat it was more your fault than anyone elses - or maybe ther other person is just better at that particular task or had more luck....
Can you imagine how many cuss words are flying around the stands when the ole' time pro ball players that used to make $1000 a season see what the younguns are making nowdays
