I am retired and have more time than money. I have decided that I can service my truck as well as anyone. I have a decent knowledge of vehichles. But after using this forum I am probably in the bottom 20% on diesel knowledge. My wife thinks bottom 5% but what does she know she married me. Only my second PSD. I have changed the oil, and thanks to this forum have successfully changed the fuel filter. I can check the fluid levels. I have found four grease fittings in the front and lubed those. What am I missing and what should I be doing that I am not.

1999 Lariat ext cab, long box, automatic. Banks and trans command. I get 12 to 14 mpg towing fifth wheel, 16+ without. Probably could do better if my foot would lose some weight.

Most important thing in my book is to keep all the fluids changed and fresh at all times. Transmission, transfer case, rear differantial, brake fluid. Also frequent filter changes all around will keep up the good health of your truck.
