transmission swap

I have a 1990 ford half ton with the 302 engine and the aod transmission. The transmission went bad so after calling several salvage yards I finally found one. The guy said it came out of a 1993 ford van with the 302 engine and aod transmission. Ran it throught the computer which said it would interchange. Brought it home but the electrical connections sure look different. Taking to the transmission shop monday but would like to know now if this thing is going to work so that I can get it back if it doesn't. So does anybody know or is it no big deal?
Thanks Ron

AODs are not electronic so there should only be an electrical connection for a speed sensor on the side of the tail shaft housing. If the '92 you have has a connector on the side near the linkage, that's an AODE and is electronic. An AOD and AODE will not interchange.

Thanks for the quick reply. okay this 1993 transmission has the electrical connecton on the extension housing, but there is also a 8 pin connector on top of the shift lever and another 9 pin connector on the right side of the tranmission that sits on top of the oil pan. Does this mean that its an AODE?
thanks
