Hey guys i was just going around the block when my truck cut off. I looked under the hood and the positive was off and there was burn marks. Im having bad luck with this truck. So i connected it back. the engine turns but nothing. I poped a spark plug wire off and turned it but didnt see a spark. I think i might the battery solinoid. I dont know can someone help?
I think its called the starter relay. Its right by the bat. Does that give power to the coil or anything cause i think it went bad thats why my engine wont work?
If the engine cranks over, then it's not the solenoid. With the key in run, do you have 12 volts at the coil positive? If you do, and you don't have spark, then I would try the ignition module on the fender. The battery cable coming off may have created a surge that blew it out. I am assuming you have electronic ignition, since you didn't say what year truck you have.
How do i try the ignition module? And what if i dont have 12 volts? I also have to run a wire to my battery from the coil cause i wasnt getting power to it before? Check the pics. in my gallery to see. Thanks.

Well, if you have a wire going from the battery to the coil +, then you definitely have 12 volts on the coil. I would try the igntion module. I saw it mounted on the drivers side fenderwell in one of the your pictures. It's that aluminum box.
You could go to the junkyard and get one and try it. Or you can spend more money and get the msd. The problem is, the msd is not going to fix the problem of having to run 12 volts to the coil from the battery. And the original ignition box is a fine system when it works.
I don't know what to tell you to do about the wiring, if you don't have a meter or a testlight to check for voltages. What I would do first is get it back running the way you had it before. And then we can go from there to figure out why the voltage is not getting to the coil correctly when you get some test equipment.
Thanks Franklin2 i got it running agian. It was the ignition modual. I think i fried it when the + cable came off. I do have a multi meter. Just tell me what to do and ill do it. Thanks.
