2wd Sas

How much harder would it be to do a SAS on a 2WD? Any other parts I would have to get? Thanks!

well if you wanna make it 4wd you'll need a transfer case. or you can do a SAS and just leave it 2wd without the transfer case and driveshaft. I'm thinking about doing this because all I do is crawl malls and don't have the money to regear and it also will save some gas.

But to answer your question. A 2wd SAS is the same as doing a 4x4 SAS. Still need to put in a solid axle, but you will have to put in a transfer case, etc.

Me and the parts guy at shucks both have the 2wd SAS thing going on. It would be easier on a 4x4 since you have the drivetrain, but if you have the money, time, or both, you can do it. Look in my pics to see what a 2wd can do (he he)!

I'm thinking of getting a two wheel drive because I already wanted to do a SAS, and then after that I wanted a big block in it. So I figured that since I was swapping all that out anyway, I should buy a 2WD to save some money, and save some on insurance! Is this a good idea?

Why do a sas on a 2x4? I'm still hung up on that little detail.

Because I am stupid I didn't have a lot of money to start, but now I have sunk more into my "2wd" than I would have just buying a 4x4.

Yeah, my $300 truck has cost me over $5000 so far. Of course, everything mechanical is new, but still, that is more than I imagined I would sink into it. I could have bought an OK 4x4 around here for 1500 maybe 2 and gone from there. The 4x4 parts are what really killed the budget. That and swampers aren't cheap

Well Ted, at least now you can say that you know your rig inside out and you have the pride of knowing what you've built. Just don't try to sell it and expect to get anything out of it that you've put in.....I know from experience!!

Yeah, I could maybe get 2500 on a good day. It just wasn't worth it. Oh, well. I do know it, that is for sure.
