I have a 97 expy and installed a 7 way plug some time back. I now have a enclosed trailer that needs a 12v constant source. In the factory harness that includes the electronic brake wire their is a orange wire that I was told was the one i needed but it has no power. The fuse under the hood is ok... WHATS THE DEAL?? PLEASE HELP, im leaving for a trip!!!!!!
The center will not work for electric brakes they will always be on, a Ford dealer should be able to get you a harness to connect the brake controller to a plug under the dash. Then the brake controller signal will go to pin 3 on the factory mounted 7 pin connector.

The electric brake wire is blue, and if your X didn't have a factory trailer plug, just look where the main harness wires run, it plugs in somewhere around the spare tire. You'll see the blue wire doesn't come out. Just splic into it and you'll be fine.
As far as the battery charge wire. You'll be in the same situation as with the electric brakes, also it should only have power when the truck is on.
Consult your owners manual b/c there are 2 relays in the fuse box under the hood by the brake booster that need to be in place for either electric brakes or trailer battery charge wires to work.
