Exhaust
If I take off my catalytic converter and muffler am I going to have problems with back pressure in my 1990 F-50, 302 cid? And if so, can I get rid of this problem with some cherry bombs?
Well I don't neccesarly think you'll have a problem with back pressure but I think it would be interesting to check your fuel mileage before hand and then after. I have had friends switch exhaust and loose fuel mileage. Maybe they just liked the may it sounds to much

i can't really check my milage because my speed sensor doesn't work. when i had the tranny and clutch redone it came back without a working speedometer. i get really crappy milage as it is so i don't know if it can get much worse. plus i really do think loud pipes are pimpin'.
I am guessing that you don't have to have your emissions checked. I put headers into 2 highflow cats and a dual in - dual out muffler. Both pipes exit before the passenger rear tire. The exhaust shopped called it their lighting package. It runs like a champ!!! You need some kind of back pressure in the exhaust whether it be glass packs or muffler. With no back pressure you can really mess your engine up. My brother chopped his exhaust off at the back of the cat and went straight out the back (after he yanked the guts out of the cat!), within a year the same truck (90 F-150 302) went from 18mpg to 8mpg. No one could figure out what was wrong with it. If your going for cheap, I would just come off each manifold with a separate pipe for each and do 2 glasspacks. $20/pc plus tubing and clamps. You may need to drill a hole in one of the pipes for the 02 sensor. Good luck!
Remember, it's a federal law to have catty converters... just keep that in mind. if someone doesn't check your exhaust during inspection, they're 'avoiding' it illegally. don't do anything too rash. I'd just get a high-flow cat converter

ya i'm pretty sure i'm just going to have to break down and buy a whole new exhaust system. i just needed a quick fix because my engine was over heating and leaving me on the side of the interstate. thanks for the info guys, it's a big help.
