Driveline Noise
1998 Explorer XLT 5.0 AWD with 87k miles.
I have been hearing a driveline clicking noise from the front of the car for a while now and can't figure out what might be the problem. Noise is audible while car is idleing forward or during initial acceleration from a stop. Noise also increases while car is in tight turns.
All of this made me think it was probably just worn out CV joints but the Ford dealer diagnosed it as "worn out inner tie rod sockets." Wasn't willing to part with $600 for an explanation that didn't make much sense.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or can relate any advice?
