Had Flash updated and no more bucking on start up!

I had the newest flash updated on my 03/03 built 6.0 and I noticed a much nicer start up and idle. Everytime in the past I would start up my truck the thing would buck and snort out black smoke for about 5 sec and then smooth out. I just thought this was normal but after getting the flash updated my dealer said this is not a normal start up.

So, if anyone else is having the same problem and your truck was made around the same time as mine you might want to get your PCM re-flashed. It seems to correct some minor problems. Later

SBV45,
I had the new flash about a month ago- The acceleration actually seems to be improved and the mileage is about the same at 16-17 mpg. Did a 360 mile pull recently with 7,400 lb boat and got 11.8 mpg maintaining 70 mph including some very big hills at times above 7,000 foot elevation. All in all pleased with the flash.

I got mine flashed a couple of months ago and I was terrified about doing that after reading about it on this site but I went ahead and I am glad I did. The romp and white smoke etc is all gone and it starts and idles nicely now. I think I may have lost a little gas mileage but it is small and now I am not embarrassed to start it up when others are around. I got 20 mpg last week on a 300 mile highway trip and 13.5 mpg with a fully loaded camper in the mountains. I am very pleased with the new flash.

Thanks, mines a 06/03 build with December Flash. I want to put a tuner on it but I am going to wait until I have 20K on it and make sure I have no problems that involve Ford. I have 13K now so not to much longer. I read a lot about the Predator, Superchips and Banks on this site but I am considering the Edge Juice w/ Attitude. I like that the guages comes with it and the EGT's are tuneable. Seems safer to me. You do have to remove both pieces if you go back to the dealer though.
