answer before purchase

A new member. Planning to buy a 2004 f250 5.4 XLT 4x4. Our undergound parking entrance is 6' high, can the truck be lowered - by the dealer or aftermarket? Does it share the same 4 speed auto transmission as the F150?

Will tow 4000# boat and trailer occassionally. Will not be used as a daily commuter. Wifey love the big truck.

I guess you could slam it down low enought but I doubt you will like the expense. I have owned a couple of superdutys and one of the reasons I like it so much is all the head room vs the F150 cabins. Sorry but these are TALL trucks and 4x4 makes them practical for every thing EXCEPT underground parking. It will have the 4R100 electronic auto trans in it don't know what is in the F150.

If wife loves the big truck you are stuck with street side parking.. Grin

Towing your 4k boat will be no prob. No it is not the same 4 speed tranny as the F150. I imagine that you could take a leaf out of the front and back to lower a lttile, anymore and you may want to have it professionally done. I am not even completely sure about the leaf part, just seems like it would work. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
