Hello,
My question relates to the warranty process on new vehicles. My truck's a 2004 Ranger, but it's a general issue that affects us all.
Had an oil change before 3000k at my dealer and all was well. Had the second one at 6000k at a different Ford dealer and now have an oil leak towards the front center (about the size of a quarter each time I park).
Any ideas as to what could have happened?
Second, my inclination is to go to my original dealer for the repair because I hesitate to trust any outfit that would mess up an oil change on a new vehicle. But warranty wise, would this present a problem? What would you do?
Chances are, the oil change was done improperly (loose drain plug, loose filter, etc...). Strictly speaking, you should return to the dealer that did the second oil change and have them make it right. But, if you have a really good relationship with the first dealer, tell them exactly what happened. If they fix it, even if you have to pay them a little, it's time and money well spent, and a lesson well-learned: stick with the service department you know you can trust!
