I took my upper plenum off this week end to replace the EGR valve.
Are there any recommendations for maintenance/mods while I have it off? Does extrude honing a 5.0 Explorer upper plenum offer any real performance gains?
As far as port/polishing the upper and lower intake, you will not really notice a difference unless you do the heads also. I do recommend getting the Ford 1" heat spacer that goes in between the upper and lower. It helps to a certain degree, depending on what else you have done. Part number is M-9486-A53.
I have the spacer, 24lb injectors, the K&N FIPK, 80mm mass air, Motorsport headers, and a couple of other mods. If you are looking for power, these are a good start, along with custom exhaust. Any time you open the exhaust and air, you help the X breath better, which the 5.0's desperately need in an X.
