My wiper blades are about a year old and they are toast. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and we have micro-climets. This mean I use my wipers all year around. Does any one know of a geed wiper blade? How about the ones form PIAA.
Here is a usage of my wiper blades.
01. Rain (Late fall, winter and early spring).
02. Inland fog.
03. Coastal fog
04. Ocean Mist (Please note that there is salt adn sand mixed in)
05. Snow
06. windshield cleaning with fluid.
I got tired of buying regular blades 2 or 3 times a year, and bought a set of PIAA blades. They are a little pricey [$20ish per blade], but well worth it and cheaper in the long run. I've had mine for 10 months, and they are like the day I bought them. They are great in the rain, but it is their winter performance that sells me. No matter how cold it gets, they stay flexible and quiet. I can't recommend them enough!
Using rain-X helps the whiper blades last MUCH longer. It also makes a huge difference by helping the water beed off the windshield. My current blades are going on a year and a half and still have no problems.
Keeping the rubber clean makes them work better and last longer. Buy a pack of those small (1" x 2") cloths with alcohol on them and clean the blade every few weeks. My blades also last about 6 - 12 months.
I switched over to Ultra Sill Blades. They come with a 5 yr warranty I believe and you can get them in colors or carbon fiber. Ended all of my wiper problems. check them out at www.greatgroupbuys.com
Actually I live in Oakland and not in San Francisco. Most of my snow driving are in AZ, NM, and the Seirras.
To answer your question... San Francisco does not get snow. Oakland just across the bay) does get snow. The only thing is that only a very few people know about it. It snow every other year in the certain area in the Oakland/Berkeley Hill and down torwards Orinda. The snow is hidden from view from most of the Bay Area. thus out of site out of mind. the last time it snowed in Oakland proper was in 1974. Any questions about Bay Area snow... just e-mail me.
