Check Engine--HELP

96 F-150 with check engine light on. I have recently had the fuel pump replaced and it was working fine. All of a sudden the light comes on and a cheap diagnostic set said low pressure in cyl 2. Can anyone help me with what may be wrong?

thanks in advance!

Whatever cheap diagnostic set you're talking about doesn't have a way to determine low pressure in any cylinder, unless it's a compression gauge.

Go to fordfuelinjection.com and click on getting codes. This will tell you how to pull the codes from the computer so you can see what it's trying to tell you.

96 is OBD-II, you can't pull the codes with the Check Engine Light. But you can go down to any autozone and have them pull the codes for you for free.

Double check that there are no broken vacuum lines. That will get you a check engine light everytime!

O.k. now I'm getting angry. I've changed the fule filter on the rail as well as all three oxygen sensors. Codes still come in at 171 and 174--system too lean in banks 1 and 2.

Any other ideas? I'm about at witts end.

thanks
Brian

Try cleaning your mass air meter. If the heated elements inside are dirty, it will send a lower voltage to the computer, equating to less air, and so it will run lean.
