trans problem
i recently bought a 88 f150-4x4 with 6-cyl. and the cheap 5 spd mazda tranny.is there any thing else i can put in place of the mazda trans without a lot of cannges?if not a buddy of mine totaled his 92 2wd with a 5 spd,can i or will the transfercase bolt-up to his trans?

A ZF transmission out of an F-250 will bolt in...theres some threads on the swap, a search for "zf swap" will pull some good threads. The mazda tranny is a good tranny for a stock F-150, but put much else there and it's runs short. The ZF trans will be a lot stronger. I don't believe you can use a 2wd tranny because I don't think you can change the output/tailshaft to a 4wd's, and if it's an F-150, it'll have the same tranny.
