While looking for my engine make date(Jan 04, 7400 miles)I noticed what looked like fuel on the manifold?(I know VERY little about diesel motors but am trying to learn so if its not a true manifold like a gasser let me know) Anyway, on the drivers side it looks like all 4 places where the bolts go there is fuel oozing out. No drips that I can find but all around the seal and down the side of the manifold is "greasy" looking. Hopefully I've described this ok. The passenger side looks fine. Is this a normal thing not to worry about or should I take it in and have it fixed?
Wonder if this has something to do with the loss of mpg's
achiro, your fuel is injected straight into the cylinders by the fuel injectors. There are fuel lines and secondary fuel filter on the manifold in front. Go to http://www.backglass.org/duncan/ps60_manual/ and look at the fuel system and component locations. This is a good document to learn about your 6.0L.
I would take your truck to the service department and see if you don't have a leak. Do I remember you posted questions about changing fuel filters? If you changed your filters, did you replace the o-ring on the filter on the engine too? Did you tighten (don't over tighten) the fuel filter cap?
Thanks for the link, I still couldn't find the actual name of the area I am talking about but I still think its the exhaust manifold. In the picture its the burnt orange(rust on my truck) part at the bottom left of the motor just to the left of the word "EGR Cooler" I have not changed the fuel filter at this point.
Well I tried to edit the post above to remove the pic but couldn't get it to work. Anyway, after looking at it in the daylight its actually dripping down from just above it. Looks like its the "glow plug bus bar" each place where it "plugs in" there is oil or fuel coming out.
