I have a 99 F250 that I bought for a work truck. Well the brakes all of a sudden on morning are sponge. When I push the brake peddle the brakes act like they wanna hold but the peddle will just go on down to the floor but they well slide the wheels you just have to mash them to the floor! Can anyon help me out?
I checked the fluid and it wasn't low. A guy told me you didn't have to bleed the newer trucks like that, is that true if NOT where do you bleed the air out at?
There are no non-bleeding hydraulic brakes on newer trucks that I am aware of. I could be wrong, but I have a hard time imagining a hydraulic system with no way to bleed it...
There should be a bleeder valve on each of your 4 disc brake calipers. It looks a bit like a greese zerk, but the hole is bigger and has no check ball in it. The rear ABS valve can be bled too, on my year truck anyways.
If you find no sign of leaking anywhere in the system and fluid is full, I would suspect the master cyl is leaking internally.
