brain teaser for tires
i know i will need to modify the rims from stock. rims are no problem because i can offset the hubs to whatever and add gussets for strength to fit the off road conditions--i think. my concern is can i turn the truck in a 40 acre field? i get in some tight spots on the hunting lease.
i measure the presnt turning radius at approximately 32 degrees. i couldn't find the oem radius listing in any information i have. the clearence, when driving straight ahead, between the inside of the front 245 45 r 16 tire with stock rims and the nearest obstruction is 7 1/2 inches. the 245's don't presently hit the springs or any brackets or anything else. if my calculations are correct and i offset the rim hub to the very inside of the rim and use the 44 inch tires my turning radius will be reduced to approximately 18 degrees.
what will my new turning radius be? any suggestions about modifying the rims or tires will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.
