Any body what would be need to switch 3.55 to 4.11 , I have a 95 F-150 4x4 . I know the front is a dana 44 not sure what the rear is, code in door jam is H9. Will i need new carriers ?
I would probably say you have an 8.8 rear end.. if that's the case.. you might need a new carrier for 4.11's.. but just for the rear. the dana 44 will house 4.11's i do belive. but i think after 4.10's u will need a larger carrier for the 8.8.. but i'm not exactly sure on that. other than that.. all you would need is the gears, something or someone to press the bearings, lil know how, and a lot of patients!!!
Yes, you have the 8.8" rear. There is no carrier break on an 8.8" or a Dana44 Reverse (front axle IFS). Just change the gears . If you have alot of miles on it, you may want to change the bearings and seals too while you're in there... The "H9" code = 3.55 limited slip. No need to do anything with the speedometer, it is electronic and reads from a vehicle speed sensor that uses a 'tone ring' attatched to the ring gear in the rear axle. Gear change doesn't affect it. Tire size change does though.
Ok, Thanks guys ! I went to a 32x11.50 resulting in a loss of torque of coarse so I figured I would look into swapping gears out. Hopefully they will not be too low.
