Transfer Case Swap?

I currently have a 1979 F-150 with the NP203 transfer case and C-6 Tranny. Will the transfer case from a 1988 Bronco with C-6 fit in the truck? Not sure what make it is since I did not see it yet.

TIA

Thats a good question, find out the model of the other 'case. If its a New Process (NP, like yers) it'll have an id plate on the back. Does your truck have free-running (locking) hubs? If not, with the new transfer case your front drive sahft will always be spinning. 2H or 4H, doesnt matter. You can get kits from WARN to add hubs to your front axle, but im not sure whats involved. If i were you i'd get the 2 trucks side by side and compare. check things like mounts, shift linkages, driveshaft length, etc. the bolt pattern should be the same for the tranny. Should be, ya never know.

Being an 88, it should be a 1356, which will bolt right to the trans. However, you will have to play with the driveshafts and linkage a bit to final fit it. Also, as mentioned above, unless it has been converted already, you will have to add lockouts to your front axle. Their simple to do and most kits have the directions in them
