Ok, for those who have been reading today, i'm trying to delete my other thread because this will be more to the point.
On the drive home from work today, it appears that the truck does a squeal when in first gear and gets louder until it shifts to second. At the same time, the battery drops to the 10-11V range when in first but jumps back up to around 13-14 when running at highway speed. The jump up happens at the same time as the squeal stopping. Does this sound like an alternator or pully issue, or do I have two separate problems that I'm trying to lop into one? Anyone with insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Sounds like the belt is slipping, either because the belt is gone, the idler bearing is going/tensioner is weak, or you have an accessory that is dragging to much, like a water pump or something else. You get any vibrations or anything like this?
belt is brand new as is the battery...long story but those were a couple of last weeks repairs along with a new Throttle Position Sensor. I'm not noticing any new vibrations, but it's an 11 year old truck, it definitely has vibrations but none that haven't been there for a while. I've been advised and I had also thought that it might be the altenator or I've been told regulator. Any thoughts?
Could be, If its the orgional altenator, I would test it to see if it puts out 13-14 volts constantly. Had a friend that has a 94 ranger that was fluctuating real bad. You can also see if the altenator turns freely by taking the belt loose ans seeing if it turns by hand easily, by that i mean it should keep going a few turns after you turn it by hand.
I'll probably take it into the shop today b/c I don't really have much time or really the tools anymore to do much work on my old girl. Thanks for the help, we'll see what I can accomplish. Big Mike
