2001 explorer shift problems

2001 explorer shift problems
I have a 2001 explorer that when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, the rpm's increase, and the OD OFF light is flashing. I took it to autozone, and they were unable to read the code(s). Their OBD II scanner only reads Check Engine lights. Ford wants $83.00 to put it on their computer. Is there something that I can tell the folks at Autozone to do to their machine in order to read Transmission codes, or am I stuck paying the $83.00 that ford wants? It has 52,000 miles and has just started doing this. The fluid and filter have also been changed, and that did not seem to help either. Any help would be appreciated.
