So who else is crazy about this thing? Was watching tv and saw the commercial for it... they have it going around a track, and it is sweeeet . Also saw somthing else saying that the 0-100 is 3.3 seconds??!!!! Is that right? I know it has the aluminum 5.4 supercharged, aluminum frame... . Just makes me want it even more.
It's 500hp 500ftlbs of torque, Car and Driver just put it up against a porsche, and a ferrari, guess who came out on top...... The GT... They loved this car.3
I must say thats one awesome car, and alot of people may think its expensive at 150k but with the class it resides in thats pretty cheap. {Porshe, Saleen, Ferrari, etc} As far as people buying 2 or 3 vipers and Z06's for that price , thats ok to, Id rather have one GT than all of them and even though you mod them you still wont be a factory car that runs with those European horses. Plus the engine location is perfect in a GT.Now Ill probably get flamed for the Vette Viper comment , but thats ok, all I got to say is "Corvette...what corvette?!"
Its a really nice car, too bad its only a limited production and slated to end in 2007. Is it because of emmisions or is it just a limited run to give the idea of "better get it now before its too late" ?
The car is entirely a halo vehicle. Basically, something that is made simply so Ford can say "we built that because we are Ford" and as an attention getter to get people into the showrooms. The GT's essentially going to be a collector's car since only a couple thousand will be made over the next couple years. But don't feel that Ford's going to give up high-end, exotic-caliber performance once the GT is gone, no, Ford's going to follow up the GT with the 2007 Cobra, to be derived from the Shelby Cobra concept car shown a few months ago that had a 605HP, all-aluminum 6.4L DOHC V10, naturally aspirated. And, this car will be here to stay as it will be more closely marketed against the Viper and the Corvette, whereas the GT was out of their league with its near-$150,000 price tag. Info on the Cobra is slow though at this point as Ford doesn't want to overshadow the GT.
Oh, by the way, the GT's engine specs were updated a few months ago to 550HP@6500RPM and 500lbs/ft of torque@3750RPM over the original 500HP@6000RPM and 500lbs/ft of torque@4500RPM.

One kidney, one lung, one eye ball (all in good nick) and one liver (in not so good condition ) to trade for one Ford GT (if it is in Gulf colours, I will also throw in a small toe). Any offers?
I saw a couple of them in person at Ford's Dearborn Proving Grounds in June. They are beautiful cars, and they sound great. They wouldn't let us drive them...
My dad is a salesman and a few week ago he went to St. Louis for a product demonstration and he got to ride around the track in one. Like Steve91 siad they wouldn't let him drive it, but he said it was awesome. I'd still like to have my 04 F-150 though, it would be aweful had to haul my birdogs, a few buds and a couple shotguns in the GT. It probably wouldn't pull my boat to well either.
I don't get excited about sports cars, but this one's an exception: ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! I'd be afraid to drive the darn thing.
We're getting one, and it's already sold. Someone called us from out-of-state and asked if we'd take $60,000 over sticker. We hemmed and hawed, not knowing if the person was legitimate (a phone call straight out of the blue; the guy could have been just jerking our chain, right?). He must have sensed our apprehension, 'cause then he said, "what if I wire you the $60,000 tomorow?" He did, and we said, "SOLD!!"
