There are two ways.
The hard way is to tear the entire dash apart, to get at the large metal thing that holds the steering column and the e-brake, which is easily a six hour job.
Or, the easy way, by opening the hood, removing the connector on the firewall (the long rectangular one, not the squarish one), undo the two bolts top and bottom, and slide the ECM out of the firewall into the engine compartment.
11 minutes tops
