Need Help repairing damaged threads

I accidentally mangled the threads for my upper grease cap while trying to knock out the front spindle shaft on my 78' F150 Ranger XLT. Does anyone know how to fix them. I have a tap set but its no where near big enough. The thread size must be close to an inch. Also I still have not gotten out the spindle shaft. I cant even get them to budge. Ive been using PB Blaster and a huge Brass Drift and its still not moving.

Take the spindle assy to a machine shop to get the pin removed. It usually takes a press to remove them. If you have mangled the threads in the spindle get another one of those from the salvage yard. A machine shop may be able to restore the threads but they have to seal against a large amount of pressure.

I cant get the spindle off cause I cant get the shaft out. It looks like most of the front end has to come off.

You will need to remove the axle or I beam and take the whole assy to the shop.

have your removed the king pin lock bolt? all you'll see, is a 3/8" nut on the I beam, take that off, and drive the lock out, then you might have better luck
