1996 4.9L OBDII system??

Is it me or does the 4.9L in a 1996 with the newer computer seem to be more peppy than the older 4.9L. Mine seems alot more powerful than others I have driven that are older with the same gearing. Any imput would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

From '93 to '94 the 300 gained 5hp but lost 5 lbs.-ft. torque.
1993 145hp @3400 rpm 265 lbs.-ft. @ 2000rpm
1994 -96 150hp @ 3400rpm 260 lbs.-ft. @ 2000rpm
