MSD has a page that lists all their distributors... you don't want the one thats "ready to run" unless you plan to run the factory box and ignition system.

Exclamation 351w And 6-300 Motor Mounts

Matt, I Am Not Sure What These Are Called. But They Are Attatched To The Frame And The Motor Mounts Attatch To Them. I Have Heard Them Called Trees And Perches? Any Way Will These Accept A 351w Motor Mount. They Are Stock For The 6-300.

This Is All For 1986 F-150

302 accessory brackets and motor mounts will work on the 351w. everything else like intake, oil pan, distributor must be from a 351w. the factory Y pipe will need work because it will be to narrow for the wider 351w block. Going from a 302/AOD to a 351w/AOD will require a flexplate from an 89 crownvictoria running a 351w/AOD because this combo was never offered in a bronco or truck.

Just posted 3 pics of the motor mounts (Frame after paint gallery) we fabbed to put the 302 into a 78 f-150 4x4. We used the 300 4x4 mounts, moved them back one set of holes on the frame (towards the cab), then added a tab to the front (radiator) side so as to use the original rear bolts as the front bolts. From here, we then dropped the mounts down to allow the engine to sit more level. We actually went down about 3/4" from these pics (yes, after we had the engine in and everything painted), but you will get the picture. Only change is that the tower sits lower on the mount.

how did you figure level on the motor? because the top of carb is what needs to be level and you will find that the motor itself is tilted slightly forward.

We used a level on the top of the carb - i.e. had the engine/trans hanging in the cherry picker, hinging on loose bolts in the transfer case mount while determining where to drill the holes in the mounts (in addition to allowing for the weight of the cab and front end to bring it down a bit further.

Hey guys i know this is a truck forum but i was looking for a little info, i have a 83? mustang that some half arsed mechanic built a 5l for and i'm contemplating buying used oil because it doesn't stay inside long enough to ruin the crappy parts anyway. i was wondering, does anyone know the physical dimensions of a 351c, will it fit? also i have an old 390 3sp combo, i know its heavy, but is it do-able? The cleveland i can get on a trade for the 390 combo, which is the smarter choice?

the 351c has a different bolt pattern and wont mate to your tranny. the 390 could be done but personally it would be a pain in the **** and the whole front end of that stang would be the weak point. if that motor was rebuilt recently id be taking it back and having some words with the guy. what is leaking ? oilpan, valve covers ?

Oil doesn't come out of the carb.lol. but it does leak almost every where else. My brother bought the car for 800 bucks and traded my van on it. within an hour the trans sprung a huge leak and the next day left him stranded. swaped it out. then the oil leak from the engine was evident. changed intake and v-cover gskts. doesn't leak out the top now but the seals let go. i have a hose clamped on the dipstick tube to return the oil back through the valve covers. the whole drivetrain needs a R&R. Is there an overdrive built that will match the cleveland. its a 4V and like i said i can trade my old demo car engine and tranny for it's e/t. Oh and this car was bought and sold "as is where is" so i'm sol on warranty. But if i ever see him on the road......

A cleveland will bolt to the Mustang tranny, a 390 will not.

I would go with the cleveland in the Mustang. None of your brackets on the 302 will fit, and you will need to get different exhaust. Either engine can be built to make a lot of power, but the Cleveland has way better heads from the factory.
