well hm... thats odd. i had the same prob and it was my starter solenoid, well it was the wire going from the solenoid to my starter. was lose and it sounded just like a dead battery.

LXMan1... My momma allways told me not to skip class! Thanks for helping to clear up the confusion. I've never heard of that happening before but now that you described it, it makes sense. Goes to show ya, it ain't never to late to learn!

That's EXACTLY what I said. I messed around with it on and off for almost a year before checking the timing. I was absolutely positive it had nothing to do with it.
My brother kept telling me to pull the coil wire and turn it over, so I finally did just to prove him wrong. I ended up eating my words. It turns out I had the exact problem that LxMan describes.
On one hand I was happy that I solved the problem. But on the other hand, I was PO'd that I didn't try it sooner.

Don't beat yourself up too bad. We have all overlooked minor issues, since it is usually our luck that the problem is expensive and hard to fix. In addition, think how POed you would have been if you had taken it to a repair shop and they fixed it the same way for $100.00.
