01 Supercrew Stuttering

I have an 01 Supercrew with the 4.6. I was driving home from PA last night and a stuttering started to occur after slowing down and then speeding up again on the highway. The check engine light is not on and none of my gauges changed while this was happening. My first thought was the tourque converter fluid needed to be changed but now I am not too sure. I think it could be a tranny problem as well.

A little history on my crew- I bought it used with 24,000 miles on it last year, a week after I bought it the check engine light came on and the code was for the #5 cylinder, well after the dealer replaced the part the light was still on, ;ong story short the local Ford rep had the dealer replace my engine with a brand new one from the factory. The truck has been fine ever since.

Any advice on the stuttering would be a huge help.

tks

It sounds like a misfire, loose plugwire, or failing coilpack possibly.
I would have a Ford dealer drive it with a WDS tool hooked up. It should show what is happening. It may cost $80 bucks or so, but it's better that buying a bunch of parts that don't fix it!!

Next time it does it try holding your left foot on the brakes just enough to turn the brake lights on but not enough to slow the truck. That should keep the torque converter unlocked. If you can do that and then accelerate slowly like when the problem would happen you might be able to narrow it down.
