6.9 performance

What is the best power adder to a 6.9 IHC engine.. I'm thinking of purchacing an 85 3/4 ton and was wanting to know. Would a supercharger work in the place of a turbo??? Good Idea, bad Idea???? Just wanting to know...

An ATS turbo is what you need.

I have never seen a supercharger on one, the biggest drawback I can see about a supercharger is where would you put it. Space under the hood is kinda tight already.

Could always pull the A/C, and bolt it there. I know there's turbocharging but I wanted to see about something different than everyone else.

Problem is you would want a whipple type (twin screw) charger not centrifical. Centrifical takes longer to make boost, there fore you move your power band up out of where a diesel shines. Whipple gives you boost right of idle. Whipple types have to be mounted on top the intake manifold and who makes one? It would be different but way to much hassel in my opinion. ATS would be a good choice.

hey dave:
i have the 91 F-350 that had the blown engine. i just installed a rebuilt 7.3 and it runs fine. it is too slow, at 2200 rpm i am doing 55 mph. you can put this thing in overdrive at 30 mph. have you done anything with rear end ratio's??

Yeah, I have a 3.55 ratio rears in mine.
I am running 285/75-16 mud tires that are 33" tall.
With my T-19 4 speed 2200 RPM is 60.8 MPH

After I get a Dana 70 front axle the next upgrade is a 6 speed tranny.

rear ratio

i forget, you have 4 wd, that complicates things. at 2200 rpm, i would like to be running 70 mph. that may not be feasible.
