Talking Engine building lubes?

Ok guys, need some input on what you all consider the best lubricants etc to use in building this engine. Everything is here but the rod bolts and rocker bolts so I want to get whatever else I need to start the build. This is a 390 FE, mild performance. Was going to have the machine shop do the bottom end but my son talked me into having us do it. Glad he did, so next weekend is the start date, assuming the ARP rod bolts come in. thanks ahead of time for the help, this place rocks!!!!

I have always used regular motor oil. I pre-lube the motor before I start it, and have had no problems.

The most important thing is to PRE-LUBE the engine b4 startup. If its going to sit around your shop for any length of time b4 you are ready to start it, use any brand name assembly lube. The crate motor guys use this stuff, and their engines sit around for months. Good luck.

All we use at the shop is Federal-Mogul Assy lube. Also, I pour oil over things before I put them up for the night in the oil bag.

Assembly lube (cam/bearings/bolts), cam break in oil additive, vasaline (for seals and rubber parts) and oil. Pour oil over everything before you button it up and pre-lube prior to dropping in the distributor right before initial startup.

If is contacts metal, lube it --Mike

I use tetrimoly grease on everything except seals. I do not prelube seals.
