Hi All - I am new to your forum but this place is great . I have a problem that I am unsure how to move forward, I have a 90 F250 460 EFI 5 speed dual tanks.
I loaned it to my kids and it died on them. Running one sec and stopped the next .
I am trying to figure out if the fuel pump or pumps when bad, I can not hear it run when the ignition has been turned, i usto hear this always before the truck started. I have replaced the fuel pump relay and eec relay, how do I go about further testing to determine the problem ? I have not tested to see if I am getting electrical current at the pump I am headed out to do that now.
I am an old ford guy give me a 60's motor and it makes sense but modern motors baffle me. Please help me out and I can be of help just let me know
The first thing to do of course is to give the gas tank a good whack with your hand, then turn the key to run & see if you hear the pump. Theres a slight chance that the inertia switch might be tripped. Simple enough to check. I dont have a wiring diagram for a 90 F-250 but it's "probably" under the dash on the passenger side where carpet meets firewall. See if your owners manual has the location. If it's not tripped, remove the connector & check for voltage from the fuel pump relay.
