Quick question about 2000 F-150

Considering buying a 2000 or so F-150. Is it possible to have a XLT,5.4 with manual trans, 4x4, extended cab short box? I looked in the specs section, but I got confused, LOL

Thanks

Frank

You can only get an auto tranny with the 5.4L in a F150.
The supercab comes with eithe a 6 1/2 or 8' bed. The supercrew (full size rear doors) comes with a 5 1/2' bed.

I have a 2001 Supercab shortbed XLT shortbed (6 1/2') 5.4L OFFROAD 4x4.

To get a manual tranny, you either have to get the 4.2L V6 or the 4.6L V8.
The auto trannys are a lot stronger than the Mazda built 5-speed.

LOL, BOTH :P hehe....thanks for the quick reply. So is the mazda 5 speed the only one available in these years of trucks or something, or do they stick (no pun intended) them in the 250/350's too?

I drive a 2000 F-150 4.6 with the 5-speed (Took me three months to find a manual trans V8 - I enjoy rowing my own). Automatics are little old ladies in my book).

I am thinking of grabing the 5.4 & 5-speed from a F-250 and dropping it in my truck. I still can't understand why the F-250 had a 5.4 option with a manual trannie and the F-150 doesn't. (I think the new F-150 doesn't even have a 5-speed option -- looks like I'll be going truckless until Ford or Dodge come out with a 5-speed option again).

My 5-speed has been flawless, even after a few runs down the 1/4 mile, it shifts smooth. My 1967 Comet on the other hand? That old toploader is getting pretty sloppy .. lol ..

Good luck on finding your truck, there aren't many F-150's with a manual trans. It's well worth the search though.

Cheers,
Justin

The ZF tranny in the F250/F350 is a good 5 speed tranny. I do not know what all is different as far as putting one in a F150

LxMan1: Do you have more specs on your transmission? I'd like to go hunt one down. If it's different than the one that comes behind the 4.6 I'll start searching for it now. 5.4 engines are pretty easy to come by (Just gotta have the cash ready when they come up).

Cheers,
Justin
