first, thanx to all who responded to the subject "Belt Chirping". what i want to know now is it just Ford's that have this problem? i also have a chevy p/u and it never "chirped or squealed" since new and has over 163,000 miles on it. do the newer ford's (1998 and up) also have this problem?
when you replace serpintine belts you should replace the tensioner also.
That thing will squeek, Its a non lubricated part, Just a wheel on a bolt with a spring.
All serpintine belts will squeal at some point in time,
Chevy, dodge, mopar, gmc, everything!
When the belt gets slipery, it will slide and squeek.
You hear people take off from lights and their car squeals? Serpintine belt.
