i have been having trouble's with the track arm bar in my 1979 Bronco 4x4,and it all started when the OEM bushing was sloppy so I thought, and when I replaced it with a new set of poly. bushing's I noticed the OEM bushing's were still ok but since I had the bar out,and had some new poly.'s to put in I did.The steering would pull hard to the left, and when i would turn the steering wheel right to correct it the front axel would jerk hard to the right, and then it would be ok for a while. Now with the new bushing's it didn't do that for a day or two of driving, and now it's doing the same but much worse. The track bar end's are tight, the bushing's wen't in tight, and the track arm mounting bracket is tight to the frame. What could be cousing the front axel to walk left to right. The Bronco has NO suspencion mod.'s at all.if I drive around 30mph it will shake the Bronco left to right, and then if I go 45+mph it will stop.
I just replaced those bushings on my 78 F150 last week. My front end did the same thing even though the OEM bushings looked good. However, the new ploy bushings solved the problem for me.
Are you sure the axle is shifting? It almost sounds to me like a tie rod or a drag link problem. Put the truck on pavement and have someone turn the wheel left to right. Look for play in all 4 ball joints (pitman arm, drag link-to-tie rod, and both tie rod ends). Also, watch the axle and frame drag link bushings, and the bracket on the frame. You should be able to see where the play is.
You could also put the axle on jack stands and move the front wheels to find the play.
Do you notice the truck pulling one way or the other when braking?
All tie rod's/drag link's are 100%.The axel move's from left to right when turning the steering wheel while the tire's are on the ground. You can watch the axel move under the Bronco.Im going to replace the track arm bushing again to be sure it's not the problem. All suspencion part's are tight on,and off jack stand's.
