I have a 1985 F250 w/6.9L engine. It was running just fine, and then lost all power while driving. Pulled over to the side of the road and it died. It starts right away every time. If you let it sit for 5 minutes it will start up and run, but it will not get over 35mph, and then loses power down to 5mph. Pull over and let it sit and the whole procedure starts over again. Put on new fuel filter and fuel (lift) pump, but it still is the same. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. I am really dumb on mechanics, but can't really afford to take it to garage, plus it is 100 miles in any direction to the closest garage. Can one of you (smarter than me) guys help? In a bind and need truck!!!!
Will answer any personal e-mails with solution. Also need to know what make of Injector Pump Ford used on this year....Please

Thanks a lot for your time KwikFord.....I will check out the things you suggested, howeer I am not familiar with the crankshaft / camshaft sensor. Where is it located, and what does it do?
Heyyyyyyy it may have been a long time since you worked on one of these, but I have never worked on one, or any other diesel for that matter, so you know a WHOLE LOT more than me !!! Preachers aint to swift ya know :-)
Rbrsr I got your message but I don't know how to reply. I do not know if the diesel has the same setup on the fuel system. As gas relative to the selector valve. Your problem sure sounds like a lack of fuel. If it is a stanadyne pump then I would get a hold of stanadyne they have a pretty good rebuilt program.
