I have a 01 F 150 with a werid klunking noise in the driverside rear. It sounds like 2 peices of metal hitting eachother....the noise sounds very deep like it's inside the axel housing or somethign.....i looked around outside the rearend and didn's see anything weird. I did take off the tire and spin the rotor and it makes a grinding sound at one particular point.......any help is greatly apprecitated......truck is 6 months old to me and i need it for work
When does it make the noise? Over bumps or just when you spin the wheel?
The park brake shoes inside the rotor might be coming apart. They can cause a grinding noise.
Take a look at the insulators between the rear leaf springs. They wear out quit regularly and then the leaves can hit together.
