Anyone else a microbrew fan? Moose Drool is a great dark beer, Fat Tire (Not as much of a micro anymore) is a great ale. I always thought it would be cool to open up a pub that only serves micro's from around the country.... any further thoughts? jim

Moose Drool is brewed in my backyard (sort of). Great stuff. Try the Slow Elk Oatmeal Stout (made by the same brewer: Big Sky).
Microbrew is definitely NOT a yuppy thing! It's a real man's beer, not that watered-down **** that people *think* is beer. Did you know that the major brewers in this country use RICE instead of GRAIN in their brews?!? BLASPHEMY!
I even brew my own. Been a homebrewer for just over a year now. In fact, I'm brewing a Munich Helles this weekend because I already went through my first 5 gallons that was reserved for "Spring"! So much for that.
I only drink microbrews anymore. I'm just not much of a drinker these days (due to the way it makes me feel the next morning, among other problems), so when I do go to drink it better be a surprise and full of taste.
I had three killer beers last weekend, but I can't remember what they were. I think one may have been a barleywine by Anchor (the company that makes Anchor Steam). One was celebrator (ok, so that's german and not micro...). The third was the nicest spring-season beer I've had in a few years, but I can't remember much about it other than it had the word 'Monk' in its name, though it wasn't a dunkel.
After those three I was pretty much drunk, so I stopped there.
>>Ever up around Milwaukee then try some Sprecler, its

Yeah they make it in Glendale, I can find it at the BIG liquer store in Louisville but thats the only place i know of.
It seems it only took a few years for our now famous Micro-brewery
Big Rock Brewery.
Its head office is in Calgary and not only did it take the private sector by storm it now has regular pub clients all over Western Canada.
Some of the names are:
Tradition
Grasshopper
Pale Ale
My favorite microbrew is brewed right up the end of my street. A good buddy and a good friend of his brew in my buddies house. He hasnt brewed anything I didnt like! Ales mostly because they are the easiest. It's a simple process and fun to watch. The smell of wort cooking is something else. It's great stuff...
Had some Sam Adams Spring Ale this weekend. Pretty good stuff too.
In Missoula, Mt. at a place called the Rhino (Walk in and get your horn wet!) They have 101 microbrews on tap. I'm like a kid in a candy store at that place. Quite unique....an old hippie hangout. I gotta hit every time I'm in town just for the nostalgia and beers.
Oh yeah!.....that is my idea of a business I would like to open. A small eatery/pub with a wide array of microbrews from accross the country for people to taste. I'll have to visit that spot....I'll make a vacation with that being my destination...jim
