Will it sell???
All cd's and dvd's are is 1's and 0's... you can't stop someone from copying the order of your 1's and 0's... you can only make it more difficult...
I try not to pay that much for any DVD, even a "feature" film.
I have done some pretty nice ( IMHO and a few other peoples opinion ) dvd's in my hobby and a few of the local community theater, and even at $10.00, I have no trouble keeping up with demand burning them at 1X speed one at a time........
My thinking is that the guy who is inclined to install his own lift will say to himself " I don't need anyone to show ME how to do that, much less pay them $20 plus to boot. " In many cases here we are talking about guys who normally take charge and get things done, and who may or may not listen to advice anyway.
The fellow who is going to pay to have his lift installed, probably has either decided he is not willing or capable to do it himself, or he has decided that having a "dealer/garage" install it, gives him someone to fall back on ( sue ) if something goes dreadfully wrong.
You might be better off trying to sell the DVD through either the lift manufacturer as an added feature, or through the various vendors who advertise here.....
Anyway, I could be all full of it in my thinking, but know you know what I think.
Go for it... you NEVER know unless you try

but, you're showing one particular truck with one particular lift...
is it limiting your market to just someone doing THAT lift on THAT truck only ?

Yes I now know it can be copied...
Marketing - we shall see. As mentioned there are the mfg's of the lifts, e-bay and forum/internet marketing. We shall see.
We finished the final photos today and made some decisions on how the instructions would be presented on the DVD.
Now to find a bikini clad girl to pose in the bed of the truck for the cover of the DVD
On side note: Nothing is non-copyable
.
Thanks - I am not as think as you drunk I am officer...
Now to find a bikini clad girl to pose in the bed of the truck for the cover of the DVD

Since I was the first to mention bikini clad girls, I feel that I should be compensated for my consulting, lets say...8% of gross sales

. P.S. ::in best buffalo bill voice:: Put the lotion in the basket!
Anyway - DVD or VHS - will it sell? Not enough to make it worth your time.
I spent the last 15 years in the video / DVD duplication, replication, distribution business. To cost effectively replicate the product on DVD you will need to get at least 2500 copies made, 1000 for VHS. Then you have to get your artwork done for both the VHS sleeves and the DVD jewel box insert and tray card. You could do it yourself if you are really handy with Photoshop, but you better get your specs exactly right. You will need to print like quantities for DVD and VHS to reach any kind of cost effectiveness. Do this and you will have roughly $3500 invested not including any professional editing and DVD authoring which will run you another $1500. And then there's advertsing?
Bottom line is - I've seen 1000's of special interest products come and go. Some sell a couple of thousand copies, but most less than 500. I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. Forget the lift install. Put some girls " gone wild " partying in lifted trucks and then you might sell some product.
