engine stall
It's hard to say without a little more info.
Does it sound like it's running out of fuel or does it shut off immediately?
When you come to a stop, does it begin to run rough before it dies?
How long has this been going on? And have you done anything to the engine prior to this problem?
Also it would help to know the engine size and if it's a 2 or 4 barrel carb.
The choke should remain open until the engine is cold. It may take awhile depending on the type of choke. How well do you know this vehicle? After some modifications, the person that did the work is lazy and just adjusts the choke to fully open all the time.
Give us any more info you can.
I have been driving this truck for a year and think i know it pretty well. I have never had any problem like this before. The truck has run great since I have been driving it. The previous owner did make some modifications under the hood but this problem is new and I don't think this problem has anything to do with these.
(1) Fuel filter
(2) Ignition Module
(3) On rare occassions the ignition switch on these trucks fail, causing interrupted fire or completely shutting off fire (like turning of key)
Also, check to see if there are any wires that have been damaged by rubbing against the chassis or engine.
I am thinking most '80 351M engines came with 2 barrel carbs. Is there any sign of a leak under the carb?
Also, you need a choke - even if it is manually operated. Check and see if the choke is hooked up to anything at all.
Sorry I'm not much help, but we'll get there. Just keep coming at us with info.
